With a legacy that dates back to the 1920s, when the owner’s grandfather, master cheesemaker John Dauwalder, came to the United States from Switzerland, today Bunker Hill Cheese and Heini’s Cheese Chalet is a premier retailer. The family-run company was acquired by John’s son Peter and wife Nancy in 1962. At the helm today are their daughters Lisa Troyer and LeeAnne Dauwalder-Heath.

In addition to selling our authentic cheeses to the public, we are also a successful wholesale manufacturer, serving clients throughout North America. 

We offer more than 30 types of delicious cheese, made from milk sourced from local farmers. A few of our most popular types include raw milk cheese, A2 cheese, and even lactose-free cheese. Lacey Baby Swiss is a perennial top seller. For those with a sweet tooth, we sell Heini’s Cheese Fudge and chocolate-covered sweets and snacks. We invite shoppers to sample our cheeses in a special tasting room, where you may also catch a glimpse of the cheese being made.

To complement the cheese, our retail shop also offers meats (beef jerky, bologna, sausage, ham) as well as jelly, spreads, sauces, dressings and gourmet baking mixes. You can show your love of the brand with hats and t-shirts.
